• Photos must be in jpg format.

• Your photo in the paper will be black and white. However, if you provide us with a color photo, it will appear online in color. The photo will also appear in color during the ordering process. Our system will automatically convert any color photo to black and white upon completion.

• Photo quality in the newspaper depends largely on the quality of the photo you upload. A high quality photo from a professional photogapher/studio will generally reproduce better than a candid shot. Outdoor photos in bright sunlight also tend to reproduce better than ones set indoors under poor lighting. Each photo that is uploaded is monitored for quality and we will make every attempt to reproduce a high quality image.

• Photos from digital cameras or scanned into jpg format are acceptable. File size limit is 2mb.

What if my photo is not ready or is not in a digital format?

• If you choose a style that includes a photo, the system will require a photo to be uploaded in order to accurately price the announcement.

• If you do not have a photo ready and would like to begin work on your announcement, you may upload any jpg file as a “placeholder”. For your convenience, you can download a “placeholder” photo by clicking this link and saving it to your desktop. This “placeholder” will not run in the paper- it is meant to allow the system to accurately quote your announcement. Once your actual photo is uploaed, the “placeholder” photo will be deleted.

• If you do not have a digital photo and would like us to scan it in for you, send the photo and your email address to: specialo@newsobserver.com.

We can scan it in and email it to you for uploading. All photos submitted with a self-addressed stamped envelope will be mailed back 10 days after publication.
