Triangle.com brings you "Behind the Bar," where we feature a local bartender. This week, meet Bayley Moore from Tyler's Taproom. Moore has been at Tyler's for three years and she says the best thing about the place is the people. They love and fight like a family, she says. When she's not working, she can be found relaxing, hanging with friends or hitting the table at Durham's The Green Room where she plays in an 8-ball league.
Hometown: Hillsborough, North Carolina.
Your go-to bev: Right now, I'm on Terrapin rye pale ale.
Best movie(s) ever: "Gangs of New York" because I can watch it no matter when it comes on.
Beer - domestics or imports: Depends. I'm a big supporter of local brews and like to advertise them, but a lot of good beers are from overseas, too, so it depends on the style.
Favorite sports team college or pro: UNC basketball.
Drink you least like to make: Long Island iced tea.
One word coworkers use to describe you: Sassy.
People drink too much: Red Bull.
People don't drink enough: Water.
Drink for a hot summer night: Bell's Oberon or any kind of nice summer ale, or a gin and tonic with extra lime.
TV show you DVR the most: Right now, I just got done watching "United States of Tara."
Fictional character with whom you most identify: Xena the Warrior Princess.
Bigger jerk: Tiger Woods or Jon Gosselin? Woods. He doesn't have much of an excuse, but Gosselin, that dude's got eight kids I'd be a jerk, too.
Interesting fact about you: I know how to scuba dive.
Weirdest thing you've ever eaten: I've had kangaroo before. There's a restaurant called Down Under by Hatteras Island. They had it, and we got to try it. I don't eat bugs; so, that's the weirdest thing for me. Tasted like a gamier beef--it wasn't bad, but I just hate to eat something that's so cute.
Other bars in the Triangle you have worked: Tyler's Taproom in Apex when they were opening.
If you're not at work, you're most likely: Sitting on my couch watching mindless TV.
Facebook or Twitter: Neither. I never did MySpace either. I don't like that everyone's in each other's business. And I guess I see and talk to everyone I want.
Best thing about drinking in the Triangle: Especially around Durham, you always run into someone you know. Even if you go out by yourself, you'll see people out and have a good time. It's a nice atmosphere.
Worst thing about drinking in the Triangle: College students.
Bad habits of other people that drive you crazy: When people chew with their mouth open and smack their lips.
Guilty pleasure: Smoking cigarettes.
A bartender's best friend is: The barback and doorman.
Favorite bar in the Triangle other than your own: The Green Room on Broad Street. It's been there for around 50 years, and it was in "Bull Durham." They only serve beer in the bottle. It's a dive, but it's home.
