Five Points gets new eateries

A new pair of restaurants opened in Raleigh's Five Points area earlier this month. Italian owner Rich Camos and his partner, Ahmed Ramadan, opened Mangia Bistro and Eat Kitchen & Bar in the former Evoo restaurant spot.

The adjoining posh nosheries sleek up the nabe with cobblestone-esque brick floors and over-sized street-facing windows. Italian for "eat," Mangia is a dinner-only euro-style swank and unassuming bistro—a mod new hot spot featuring fresh fish 'n' pasta fare. Steak frites, anyone?

And for the patriot, there's a proximate alternative: "Eat"—an adjacent lunch and dinner space that offers stateside gourmet grub a la blended shakes—25 of them—and an array of all-fresh fare—mahi sammies, beefy burgers, grilled pimento cheeses—and a long enough bar for you to cop a squat and dram up some convo with the 'tenders. It's so American, you'll find yourself humming Springsteen's "Born in the USA" while you eat. Just keep the chair-dancing for the car ride home.
