Monday's blah, but your week doesn't have to be. So, here are some hip haunts and choice events to hit up:
NORTH CAROLINA STATE FAIR: What better place to people-watch, stuff your face and indulge in some deep-fried fun, while porkin' out on all things NC- from NC Pork Council's Pork Chop Shop to pot-bellied pig, duck and pygmy goat races. Really, who needs NASCAR when there's a Hogway? When: Oct. 14-24, 8am-midnight, except opening day Oct. 14, when gates open at 3pm. Admission and ride ticket prices vary.

MIRANDA LAMBERT: "The truth comes out a little at a time" as country's CMT on Tour headlinin' crooner stages her coup, fires a little "gunpowder and lead," and explodes into a full-blown "Revolution." Special guest Western North Carolina-native Eric Church, on the heels of his sophomore hit album, "Carolina." Introducing Josh Kelley. When: Oct. 14, 7pm; starting at $20. ART IN MUSIC: Art and music collide as the NC Symphony illustrates the essence of famed Amerian etcher Norman Rockwell in their classical representation of Stella Sung's "Rockwell Reflections." Performed in conjunction with the NCMA exhibit. Also includes favs by Copland and Butterworth, with a dazzling finale of Debussy's "La Mer." When: Oct. 15; noon. $32. RALEIGH PUB CRAWL-HAUNTED ADVENTURE FRIDAY EDITION: Slink around hip haunts, scare up some prelim Halloween specters and parade the paranormal with this spooktacular mile-long Tobacco Road Tour through North Carolina's haunted heritage. When: Oct. 15, 7:30pm. $19.
