Monday's blah, but your week doesn't have to be. So, here are some hip haunts and choice events to hit up:

HOLIDAY OPEN HOUSE: Who says you have to have a belly like a bowl full of post-Thanksgiving jelly before you can get in some jolly Christmas cheer? Lose the scrooge and frolic over to the Cameron Village Open House for a festive frenzy of ho-ho holiday happenings and shopping shenanigans—including a stop-in from Santa, some Raleigh Boychoir caroling, a window décor contest and goodies for the kids. It’s not the North Pole, but the real Snow Sliding Slope will make it seem close. And, it’s never too early to get a sneak peek of Santa. Spend a $100 to earn a $25 gift cert to the Village. When: Nov. 18, 5-8 p.m. More info | Cameron Village

JUPITER BALL MOREHEAD PLANITARIUM FUNDRAISE: Glitz it up to give youngsters a chance to “sail across the sun…to the milky way and see the lights all faded,” with a gala benefit to support science ed for North Carolina school children. If you can’t send a kid to the moon, you might as well afford them a few “drops of Jupiter.” When: Nov. 19. 7 p.m. Champagne and cocktail reception and silent auction. 7:45 p.m. Musical selection TBA. 8:45 p.m. Dinner, silent auction continues and Dancing with The Headliners. Til Midnight, Telescope viewing of the planets and stars. $225. More info | Morehead Planetarium

QDR COUNTRY CONCERT FOR THE KIDS: Toe up for some twang. Help cure a child. It’s pretty simple. Scoot over to DPAC as a herd of country crooners saddle the stage for a charity concert to benefit North Carolina Children’s Hospital as part of the ninth annual NC Children’s Promise Radiothon/Telethon. Line-up to include Rodney Atkins, James Otto, Clay Walker and NC-native Jason Michael Carroll. When: Nov. 18, 7:30 p.m. $25. Buy tickets | Durham Performing Arts Center

MARGARET CHO: So, she’s got jokes … but can she sing? Rock over to Carolina Theatre and go Rated R with raunchstress-turned-satircal-songstress as she cracks up the crowd with her trademark socio-political stand-up tatter, before banging out a handful of tunes from her premiere comedy album “Cho Dependent.” So, yes, she sings. But hopefully, she won’t make like her song and “Call in Stoned.” When: Nov. 19, 8 p.m. $37; Pit $47; Member & Group $31. Buy tickets | The Carolina Theatre

RALEIGH ON ICE 2010: Life’s a lil slippery – might as well slap on your ‘blades of glory’ and slice up some ice for Raleigh’s newest holiday tradition at the Hills’ outdoor rink. Tis the season to master the Iron Lotus. A portion of proceeds to benefit the Raleigh Rescue Mission. When: Nov. 20-Jan 2, North Hills Shopping Center outdoor rink. Hours: Monday to Saturday 1-8 p.m. and Sundays 1-6 p.m. Closed Thanksgiving and Christmas days. $6 admission, includes skate rental. Raleigh on Ice 2010 | North Hills Shopping Center
