ISAAC HUNTER’S FREE FOOD FRIDAY: “Office Space” is a good movie. The sensation of changing lanes in gridlock after work is not good at all. So skip the rush-hour headache, head over to Hunter’s for a happy-er hour and get hopped up on some free food and cold brews. Um, every Friday. Free food is served 5-7 p.m. When: Jan. 21.

DOWNTOWN DURHAM GOURMET FOOD TOUR: When Kate Moss quipped that “nothing tastes as good as skinny feels,” clearly she’d never dined in Durham — a city so on the up-and-up it was just named No. 34 in the world in New York Time’s “where to go in 2011” list of 40 with the caption: “A downtown turnaround means food worth a trip.” So, lucky locals, feed your inner foodie on some toothsome treats with downtown Durham’s gourmet food tour as the Bull City basks in her celebrity. And, if we’re being honest, being popular probably means you’re hungry. So, fight the famine trend and dig in. When: Jan. 22, 1:30-4:30 p.m. Chapel Hill/Carrboro tour is from 11-2 and Raleigh Walking tour from 2-5, also. $41. More info

GREAT DIVIDE TAKEOVER: Belly up to the bar at Woody’s City Market for the Great Divide tap takeover, when the taps turn over to 10 “great” brews, featuring sample flights. The only thing better would be if you got the taps all to yourself. Oh, and they’ll have $0.25 wings to boot. Featured beers: Claymore Scotch Ale, Hades Belgian Ale, Titan IPA, Hercules Double IPA, Hoss Rye Lager, Old Ruffian Barleywine, Smoked Baltic Porter, Wild Raspberry Ale, Belgica and Expresso Oak Aged Yeti. When: Jan. 19, 7 p.m. More info

ARTISTS UNITE FOR HAITI: Yeah, the homeless-radio-sensation man might be all the media rage — well, that and your new zodiac sign — but tent-ridden Haitians still need help (and homes), too. So band together and snatch up some dank art for the sake of humanity. Art is being donated from artists globally. All works will be sold at $25 on a first-come, first-serve basis. When: Jan. 21. 4-9 p.m. at Solas in Raleigh. More info

DISCOVER THE REAL GEORGE WASHINGTON: Stop the presses. Snooki wrote a book. But seeing as how that probably just made everyone a little dumber, you should probably do something to get smarter … like going to check out George at the History Museum before the exhibit ends this week. And if you’re really looking for a hair-raising good time, there’s a lecture on Martha—I swear she had a bump-it, too. When: Washington exhibit ends Jan. 21. The Martha Washington and the Decorative Arts lecture is $12, Jan. 20 from 7 p.m. - 9 p.m.; the price includes admission to the exhibition. More info
