Monday's blah, but your week doesn't have to be. So, here are some hip haunts and choice events to hit up.
THE 12TH ROCK & SHOP MARKET - BLOCK PARTY! Rocking around the Christmas tree is absolutely addictive. But give the tree some space and rock around the block a bit for the 12th Rock 'n' Shop Market the indoor shop-rock-couture event featuring over 100 emerging designers selling their wares, a fashion show, live music by Phil Cook & His Feat and The Small Ponds, and a bevy of bites buses. Oh, and there's beer. Bottoms up. The tree will still be there when you get home. And the reunion will be that much sweeter. Where: Motorco, Fullsteam & The Trotter Building, Durham. RALEIGH FIFTH ANNUAL DOWNTOWN SANTA BALL: Whether or not Santa knows if you've been naughty or nice is suspect. But hop on his good side by throwing down for the kids. You don your best duds and have a ball. Kids get toys. Less work for Santa. Everyone wins. Where: The Union Tavern, Raleigh, via Downtown Raleigh Marketing in conjunction with Raleigh Downtowner Magazine. CINDERELLA: Vampires and Sorcerers may be all the rage um, there's even a Potter Park planned in Cali but Disney's still got the monopoly on Prince Charming. EAT AND SHOP LOCAL TOUR: Loco-for-local zealots just landed an opp for lots of loot. Take afoot for the local nosh 'n' shop tour and check-off gifts for the list while you warm up your palate for the pending holiday feast with a gourmet grub-fest through the best of the Triangle's and Triad's bite spots. Just don't go heavy on the sipping lest you end up getting distracted and losing your tour group. Where and When: Wednesday, 2 to 5 p.m. in Raleigh. Thursday, 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in Durham.
