Monty Python reference aside, Toad the Wet Sprocket always did have about the stupidest name in showbiz. But you know what? More than 20 years later, All I Want and Walk on the Ocean still sound really, really good perfect little nuggets of guilty-pleasure pop craft that youll find yourself humming along with whether you want to or not.
After a decade-plus of intermittent existence (during which time frontman Glen Phillips also served as lead voice in the Americana supergroup Works Progress Administration), Toad is back on a full-time basis and even has a new album on the way. You can hear a few songs from that along with the golden oldies Wednesday at Cats Cradle in Carrboro. Emily Hearn opens at 8 p.m. and tickets are $25 advance, $30 at the door. See catscradle.com for details.
