Theres plenty going on with A Friend in the World (Badman Records), the seventh and newest album from the Portland all-female trio Lovers. Balancing electronic rhythms with acoustic flourishes, the albums 10 songs are both kinetic and thoughtful in equal measure, with room for thorny sexual politics in the lyrics and hooks amid the strums and beats. Lovers open for Crystal Antlers on Friday at The Pinhook in Durham. Showtime is 9 p.m. and tickets are $7. See thepinhook.com for details.
